Jury & Technical Committee

An International Jury attends every Tech Talk and inspects the boats before awarding five prizes among them the Innovation and Eco-Conception prizes and the Jury’s Coup de Cœur and may add special mentions. On shore, the Technical Committees apply the technical rules, reviewing each team’s specifications and carrying out physical inspections of the boats once they reach Monaco.

Jérémie Lagarrigue is the CEO of EODev. He is also the President of the International Jury of the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge.

Marco Casiraghi

Yacht Club de Monaco

Currently, Marco Casiraghi is President of Engeco and FPMC, civil construction and real estate development companies of the Principality of Monaco. He is a member of the Board of Directors of companies in Europe and the United States. As a non-profit activity, he is the founder of Businessgames @ school for the “promotion of companies and entrepreneurs” and the founder of the “Monaco mouse trap car Grand Prix” for the promotion of engineering among high school students.

Gilles Vernhet

Yacht Design Manager, Oceanco

Gilles Vernhet is deeply connected to the sea since childhood, he began sailing at the age of 7, meanwhile his passion for the ocean has never stopped growing. With a mechanical engineering background and graduation in industrial design, he started his career in yacht design at Oceanco in 1997. Today, managing the Yacht Design department at Oceanco, he focuses in implementing all available sustainable solutions to improve the footprint of a yacht all along its lifecycle. Oceanco specialises in building large custom yachts up to 160 meters in length with construction facilities in The Netherlands and its Design, Marketing and Sales office in Monaco.

Jan Pachner is the secretary general of the One Ocean Foundation One Ocean Foundation founded in March 2018, is an Italian initiative of international scope for the protection of the ocean. The Foundation’s mission is to accelerate solutions to ocean issues by inspiring international leaders, companies, institutions and individuals; promoting a sustainable blue economy and spreading knowledge about marine ecosystems through ocean literacy.

Salomé Mormentyn coordinates the Polar Initiative at the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, supporting science diplomacy and international cooperation to help protect the Arctic and Antarctic. Her work focuses on strengthening collaboration and translating polar knowledge into concrete action for the sustainable management of polar regions.

Raphaël Ghiandai is the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer and Treasurer of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation. He is involved in a variety of tasks, including financial and budgetary oversight, managing banking relationships, developing investment strategies and supporting fundraising efforts. He also contributes to the Foundation’s initiatives related to the blue economy.

Five years ago, Elizabeth moved from Geneva to Nice to study Sustainable Design. Having recently graduated from BESIGN, she is now a Technological Platform Engineer intern at IMREDD, blending engineering, sustainability, and design.

The Technical Committees

The Technical Committees apply the Official Technical Regulations class by class. They review each team’s specifications and carry out physical inspections of the boats once they reach Monaco, clearing every entry before it races.

Specifications review

Studies each team's technical file ahead of the event.

Scrutineering

Checks conformity with the Official Technical Regulations.

Physical inspection

Inspects the boats on site, in Monaco.

Clearance to race

Validates compliance before the boat takes to the water.

Reviews the Energy Class boats — electric and hydrogen propulsion, batteries and energy management.
