The boat

Sea Sakthi is an electric racing boat team developing a high-performance vessel equipped with an advanced contra-rotating propulsion system using toroidal propellers. This innovative configuration is designed to improve thrust, reduce energy losses, and enhance overall propulsion efficiency. The boat integrates a 25 kW electric motor powered by a 9.9 kWh battery pack, delivering strong and responsive performance while maintaining a fully electric architecture. Its optimised electrical system is engineered to maximise efficiency, improve reliability, and ensure consistent power delivery during operation. By combining high-performance electric propulsion, efficient energy management, and cutting-edge propeller technology, Sea Sakthi offers a modern and sustainable solution for competitive electric marine racing.

Follow the team at the Challenge

Team Sea Sakthi competes in the Energy Class at the 13th Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, 7–11 July 2026 in Port Hercule. As India’s first and only team at the event, the Kumaraguru College of Technology students bring an electric catamaran with a refined in-house propulsion system and an upgraded cockpit using a new bio-mass-based fibre in its composite layup.
