Public institutions and foundations supporting the Challenge.

In June 2006, HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco decided to establish his Foundation to address our planet’s alarming environmental situation. The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation is dedicated to the protection of the environment and the promotion of sustainable development on a global scale. The Foundation supports initiatives of public and private organizations, in the fields of research and studies, technological innovation and socially-aware practices.
Spread over six departments and some fifty services, the 3,600 employees of the Monegasque Administration are the lifeblood of the Government of Monaco, which is committed on a daily basis to promising and significant projects in all of Monaco’s main sectors of activity: economy and finance, justice, environment, town planning, digital technology, security, health and social action, education and culture.
Extended Monaco is the Principality of Monaco’s digital transformation programme, financed and implemented by the Government of Monaco through the DITN (Délégation Interministérielle chargée de la Transition Numérique) teams. We are always open to ideas, innovations and suggestions for improvement.
The Town Hall is the oldest institution in Monaco. 745 people work in 20 municipal departments representing various fields of expertise: Social (early childhood, seniors, social assistance); culture (Monaco Media Library, Rainier III Academy, Ecole Supérieure d’Arts Plastiques-Pavillon Bosio, Monaco Exotic Garden); entertainment (Espace Léo Ferré, City Animation, Princess Antoinette Park); living conditions, environment and sustainable development (Civil Status, Municipal Police, Communal Domain, Posting); sports and leisure (Saint-Charles Swimming Pool, Rainier III Water Sports Stadium…); youth; heritage and traditions.
SEPM (Société d’Exploitation des Ports de Monaco) was founded in 2002, since when it has provided the technical and commercial management of the ports of the principality.
The Société Monégasque de l’Electricité et du Gaz (SMEG), which was formed through the merger of SME and SMG in 1976, has been responsible for the distribution of electricity and gas in the Principality of Monaco since the late 19th century, building on the legacy of its predecessor companies. A key player in Monaco’s energy transition, SMEG manages the distribution, production, and supply of energy throughout the territory of the Principality of Monaco.

MarineShift360 is a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) tool designed specifically for the marine industry to accelerate positive, sustainable changes within the design and manufacturing stages.
The scope of the Superyacht Eco Association (SEA) Index, is to increase the yachting industry’s awareness of its carbon impact on the environment and strengthen the commitment of the Principality of Monaco as a center of excellence, innovation and environmental leadership in yachting.
