The 12th Monaco Energy Boat Challenge gathered more than 42 teams and over 1,000 students from 29 universities and 20+ nations. The 2025 edition launched the inaugural AI Class for fully autonomous boats, while the Open Sea Xperience set a new outright speed record of 49.84 knots.

A brand-new class dedicated to fully autonomous, AI-assisted navigation joined the fleet for the first time.
Stefan Frauscher piloted the Frauscher × Porsche 850 Fantom to a new outright record, smashing the previous 34.71-knot mark set in 2023.

2025 saw the debut of the AI Class, opening the Challenge to fully autonomous vessels that integrate artificial intelligence into navigation and energy management. The SeaLab Class focused this year on pioneering hydrogen projects, while the Open Sea Class hosted the outright speed record run — the Frauscher × Porsche 850 Fantom reaching 49.84 knots, powered by the same motor as the Porsche Macan Electric SUV.
